The Power of Micro-Moments: How 10 Minutes a Day Can Reground You
Lately, during a period of feeling almost completely overloaded, I've been surprised by how brief, simple moments, even just a few minutes at a time, often have an outsized impact on how grounded I feel.
Micro-moments that made a difference over the past few weeks:
Reading for just 10 minutes a day, especially with coffee in bed, early in the morning, on days when my husband is on duty with our 1-year-old son. Small, consistent moments to myself feel luxurious right now.
Planting seeds (literally) and watching them germinate. There's something utterly delightful about seeing my sweet pea seedlings unfurl new leaves every day or two. It feels like a quiet little miracle.
Watering the garden for 10 minutes. I set a timer and focus only watering all the plants, and just enjoying the sounds of our back garden. Sometimes, it really is that simple to feel present and grounded.
10 min workouts. I'm a bit over a year postpartum and still working toward feeling like myself again, physically. I've lost some weight, but more importantly, I just feel better: more regulated, more clear-headed, more me. The biggest shift? I let a workout “count” even if it's just 10 minutes. That tiny permission has made a big difference. I move more often, more consistently, and most days, I end up working out for longer anyway. And let me tell you: the right 10-minute workout can leave me sore for two days. Turns out, half of life is just about showing up.
