Sarah recently served as a facilitator and panel interviewer at the London Business School Family Business Conference, where this year’s theme – The Next Gen – explored how rising leaders are reshaping the future of legacy enterprises.
On the main stage, Sarah interviewed Ileana Lobkowicz, of the House of Lobkowicz, exploring the classic tension many next gens face: how to honor history and family identity while forging their own path and purpose. Ileana’s 700-year family story – marked by exile, loss, and now a powerful return to stewardship and innovation – offered a powerful backdrop for the conversation. One key takeaway? The stories families choose to tell — and those they choose to rewrite — shape not only their identity, but the future of the family and its enterprise.
Sarah also facilitated a mini next gen workshop for all conference attendees, inviting them to reflect on how they are forging their own path — both within and beyond their family systems. Using the lens of integration and differentiation, participants explored how to stay connected to family values while cultivating the independence needed to lead in their own way.
Gratitude to Ileana for her grace, insight, and honesty, and to the Family Business Club at London Business School for creating space for conversations that truly matter.
