Start With Yourself — The Money Chapter Every Woman Should Read
I nodded my way through the money chapter of Emma Grede's Start With Yourself, and more than once found myself cheering out loud. It's hard to pick a single line to share because the whole chapter is brilliant.
Every woman should read it. So should anyone raising a daughter, and anyone who advises wealthy women, whether on investments, tax or legal matters.
Here's why it matters now. Around $124 trillion is expected to change hands in the US by 2048. Women are set to receive a large share of it, including more than 95% of the $54 trillion passing between spouses. Women already earn as much as or more than their husbands in 45% of US marriages.*
Yet so many women I know are deeply uncomfortable talking about money, owning it, or admitting they have power because of it. We have to get over that. Power isn't a bad thing. How we use it is what matters. When women don't step into it, we miss real chances to have an impact, and that's a waste for all of us. Advisors who understand this will serve their clients far better.
Emma's chapter is a good place to start
